The Forest Garden

A horticultural hidden gem in the heart of the leisure park.

Come and explore Lancaster's Forest Garden which is open to all for relaxation and rehabilitation.

Set on a hill the garden is a fully accessible two-acre site of forest paths, wildlife habitats, seasonal plants and home-grown vegetable plots.  Open to the public every day and free of charge, it provides a “wonderful place to wander” appreciated by visitors seeking peace and quiet amidst the bustle of the day.

The only forest garden in the area, it is layered with woodland plants intersected by winding pathways.  There’s a pond, flower and organic vegetable beds, soft fruit area, plum orchard, and lots more.  Working sympathetically with the natural landscape has encouraged wildlife back, so you may spot hedgehogs, deer, frogs, owls and more.

At the garden’s heart is ‘Fork to Fork’, a vital charity project providing education and rehabilitation for a group of vulnerable young adults through therapeutic horticulture.  Guided by trained horticulturalists, they volunteer onsite, gaining social skills and purpose as well as horticultural.

We invite you to stroll beneath the trees, enjoy the flowers, and chat to the team.  Whether you’re a walker or a would-be volunteer, everyone’s welcome to enjoy this little woodland wonderland.
